How to Use Middle School Math Brain Teasers

If you teach 5th through 8th grade math, this post is for you! I just finished up my final set of middle school math brain teasers and I wanted to show an easy way to prep this math resource for your math classroom. These brain teaser challenge problems are great for use in middle school math centers, for early finishers, or to try as a whole class. Back in 2014, I started creating these 6th grade math brain teasers. I am excited to now have bundles available for 5th grade math, 6th grade math, 7th grade math, AND 8th grade math. Each of these bundles includes a set for each math standard and a total of 500-700 problems for that grade level.

How to Prep Middle School Math Brain Teasers

Here is everything you need to know to get these brain teasers prepped and ready for your math students!

1. Print the Pages Back to Back

Printing directions are included in the download, but you will want to make sure you print the answers to each page on the back of the prior question page. For example, the answers on page 5 of the document print on the back of page 4.

2. Cut on the Gray Lines

Once printed, you will want to cut the cards into thirds, using the gray lines on each page. I recommend a paper cutter, but a plain old scissors works just fine too!

3. Laminate and Hole Punch

If you want them to last, I highly recommend laminating the problems. Once laminated, you can hole punch the top left corner of card.

4. Binder Clip and Display for use in your classroom!

Once each set is hole punched, you can easily binder clip them together. The binder clips make it especially easy to hang in the classroom. I have used a simple thumb tack to have them readily available for your early finishing students!
